Troubleshooting

Common Failure Modes

Teflon non-stick coatings inevitably scratch or lose their slickness. Thin pans warp under high heat, making them wobble on flat-top stoves.

Maintenance

View all →

Deep Clean Stainless Steel

Remove rainbow stains or burnt food to maintain appearance and heat transfer.

Remove stains and check for warping

Use Bar Keepers Friend for stainless steel staining. Check for warping by placing on a flat surface monthly — warped pans heat unevenly and can scratch glass cooktops. Replace warped pieces.

Season and maintain non-stick coating

Hand wash non-stick pans with soft sponge only. Re-season cast iron after each use with a thin layer of oil heated until smoking. Avoid metal utensils on coated surfaces to extend coating life.

Season Cast Iron

Maintain the non-stick patina on cast iron skillets.
