Troubleshooting
View all →Common Failure Modes
The mechanical shutter has a finite lifespan, usually rated for 100,000 to 300,000 clicks before failing. Dust on the sensor is inevitable and requires delicate cleaning. Drops frequently damage lens mounts or shatter LCD screens.
Maintenance
View all →Check battery health and firmware
Cycle camera batteries fully every 2-3 months if not in regular use. Update firmware when available for autofocus improvements and bug fixes. Clean battery contacts with a dry cloth if you notice power issues.
Clean sensor and mirror box
Use a sensor cleaning kit with sensor swabs every 3-6 months, or whenever dust spots appear in images at small apertures (f/16+). Use a rocket blower first to remove loose particles before wet cleaning.
Sensor Cleaning
Dust on the sensor creates permanent spots on every photo. Periodic wet cleaning restores image clarity.
Update Firmware
Manufacturer updates improve autofocus performance and fix bugs.
